Overview

After five hugely successful seasons on TVNZ, MasterChef New Zealand relocated to its new home on 'Three', a transition that was marked by its continued popularity as a hit cooking show.

In its sixth season, MasterChef New Zealand introduced a fresh panel of judges, including renowned MasterChef judge Josh Emett, accompanied by celebrated chef Al Brown and successful restaurateur Mark Wallbank. The show's transition to 'Three' also presented novel challenges, which inspired the Kiwi contestants to showcase exceptional culinary skills, resulting in the best quality of food ever seen on MasterChef in New Zealand.

Concept

Aspiring contestants from all over New Zealand audition by presenting a food dish to the three judges in the  hopes of securing a place in the semi-finals. The selected semi-finalists compete in various challenges designed to assess their culinary knowledge and skills. Through a series of team-based and individual cooking challenges, as well as weekly elimination rounds, the contestants are gradually eliminated until one is ultimately crowned as the MasterChef winner. The grand prize includes chef training from renowned professionals, the opportunity to publish their own cookbook, and a substantial cash reward.
